Happy days are truly over. Literally. Nowadays, go down to Happy on a weekend, and you will only find a few lost souls loitering around. Then again, now that it's the 7th month, maybe they really are lost souls!!! Nowadays, the happy people are back to the once sleazy Tabs and kiddish Whynot, and they seem truly happy to stay there (pun intended). As for Sunday nights, Attica and their boy icon DJ George trumps every other clubs hand down. There's no place else more happening than Attica on a otherwise dull Sunday night. Looks like Centro Sunday nights are finally being revived in the form of Attica! Happy must really be churning in their watery graves right now, having retired DJ George from Happy's consoles. Even Happy's SWEAT parties are seeing a drop among party-goers. It makes you wonder why they even bother organising it anymore. Still, if there's one good thing left about them, it's that they still continue to pick delicious hunks as their SWEAT poster boys. Still, even the eye candies can't save Happy from its sad fate. To think Taboo actually once went through this phrase of abandonment before. When Happy first started, the crowds were flocking to the new darling of Tanjong Pagar. Taboo and Whynot were left to bite the dust. Yet why the sudden change of fates? Could it be karma? Well, perhaps Happy's arrogance is to blame. Happy's management decision to ban Patricia Mok and her entourage of friends were rumoured to be among the many factors that caused Happy's downfall. Also, reports of Happy's miserly ways seemed to turn many regulars off. While the bosses of Taboo were generous with their drinks, Happy bosses made sure they got back tit for tat, if not more. In addition, during these times, Taboo and Whynot have been constantly reinventing themselves, be it through revamped interiors or newly rehearsed drag shows, they manage to stay ahead. And what's left of Happy is a haggard looking club with nothing new to offer. Rumours have said that the Happy bosses are so desperate, they intend to turn Happy into a Karaoke Bar during quiet nights! The horrors... How did this once posh club delve into such an unhappy state (pun intended again)? Will Happy rise back to the occasion? Well, that's anybody's guess. But what's for sure is that if the bosses of Happy don't humble themselves and reinvent Happy, then Happy days may well be truly over. |
